Service Learning
Service-Learning and OSU CHS Mission
Service learning aligns seamlessly with the mission of Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. By fostering a sense of community, developing critical life skills like leadership and communication, promoting empathy and social responsibility, and enhancing academic learning through real-world application, service learning directly supports the goal of educating and training osteopathic physicians, scientists, and health care professionals.
This approach not only benefits the individuals involved by providing hands-on experience and personal growth but also creates positive change within the community, particularly in rural and underserved areas of Oklahoma. By engaging in service learning, students can apply their knowledge in real-world settings, thereby improving health care access and quality for those who need it most. This synergy between service learning and the school's mission ensures that both the students and the community thrive together.
