Summer Rural Externship Elective

Students participate in a two-week rotation designed to reinforce a student’s interest in a rural practice and to prepare the student for rural clerkships.

This clerkship is comprised of a clinical office experience in a small rural community and includes community service and interdisciplinary shadowing. The externship is a two-credit hour elective course that is offered the summer after completing the first year of medical school.
