Emergency Medicine Residency Program
Program Director Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the OSU Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency.
OSU Medical Center has a track record of producing outstanding emergency medicine
graduates since 1991. Our graduates are highly sought after and are high performers
when they enter postgraduate employment.
We strive to be amongst the best programs in the country, and we are constantly working
to improve the curriculum to meet the needs of the residents. We are committed to
producing physicians that can thrive in the emergency department. We are proud of
the friendly and cordial work environment that we have created. Our program has a
true feeling of family. The master degrees attached to our residency program provides
an invaluable opportunity that few programs are able to offer. Please feel free to
contact myself or Michelle Dean with any questions about our program.
Sincerely,

Program Description
The OSU Emergency Medicine Residency is a 48-month program with a built-in masters
degree. Residents have a requirement to complete coursework towards a master's degree
in public health, healthcare administration or global health. The entire degree can
be completed over the four year program. This benefit is provided to emergency medicine
residents at no charge.
Residents have the opportunity to rotate with many different specialties and to care
for a diverse patient population with an incredible spectrum of pathology. Our clinical
experiences produce compassionate, well-prepared residency graduates. The educational
experience includes many didactic experiences to include: morbidity and mortality
conferences, grand rounds and specialty specific conferences. Site support includes
free dining for house staff, and a robust medical library.
