Program Director Welcome Letter
I'm honored to serve as Program Director and excited to share what makes our program special. At OSU Tulsa, teaching isn't something that happens around clinical care it is the mission. Our attending physicians are employees of the OSU College of Medicine, hired specifically to educate the next generation of emergency physicians. Every shift is a teaching shift. Whether we're running a simulation, working through a complex resuscitation, mentoring students, or leading journal club, your growth as a clinician and educator is our top priority.
Our clinical training is built around diversity of experience. You'll train at your home base at OSU Medical Center, care for critically ill and injured patients at Saint Francis, Tulsa's Level 1 Trauma Center, serve veterans at the VA, and develop independence in rural emergency medicine in Tahlequah. Add in rotations through four distint ICU environments, EMS ride- alongs, a legal medicine month, and longitudinal curricula in ultrasound and toxicology, and you'll graduate prepared for any practice setting.
We also invest in your future beyond the bedside. Every resident completes a fully funded master's degree in Healthcare Administration or Global Health at no cost. Dedicated research and quality improvement blocks give you protected time to develop scholarly work that matters to you.
What truly defines this program is its people. We are a tight-knit group of residents and faculty who know each other not just professionally, but personally. The trust, support, and camaraderie here are real, and they make the hard days of residency better. Our residents consistently say the culture is the reason they chose OSU Tulsa, and the reason they'd choose it again.
If you're looking for rigorous training in a supportive, team-driven environment where you are known and valued, we'd love to meet you. Don't hesitate to reach out to me or our Program Coordinator, Bri'Anne Walton, with any questions.
