Master of Science in Medical Sciences

The M.S. in Medical Sciences program at OSU Center for Health Sciences (CHS) is designed to support two distinct student populations: graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences and students matriculating in the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. The MSMS curriculum strengthens transdisciplinary knowledge and professional skills through coursework offered by the OSU-CHS Schools of Biomedical Sciences, Global Health, and Health Care Administration.

Curriculum Overview

The M.S. in Medical Sciences program includes coursework from the OSU-CHS Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences and preclinical Biomedical coursework from the College of Osteopathic Medicine. This integrated curriculum is designed to strengthen foundational biomedical knowledge and support academic progression toward professional goals.

Degree Requirements

This is a non-thesis master’s program requiring a total of 32 credit hours:

  • 30 credit hours of coursework
  • 2 credit hours of capstone project

The capstone is an independent study project aligned with each student’s academic and career interests.

Admissions Requirements

The M.S. in Medical Sciences program welcomes:

  • Students who have successfully completed the OSU-CHS Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences, or
  • Students currently matriculating in the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.

At this time, the program is not accepting applications from at-large or international applicants.

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Earned a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Earned an OSU Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences or matriculated in the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Applicants must submit a Goals Statement that clearly outlines:

  • Academic and professional goals
  • How the M.S. in Medical Sciences will support those goals
  • Relevant experiences or qualifications that demonstrate readiness for graduate-level study

Academics

The M.S. in Medical Sciences program includes graduate-level coursework from multiple OSU-CHS academic units, including Biomedical Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Global Health, and Health Care Administration. The curriculum is designed to support academic progression and professional development for students with distinct educational pathways.

Program structure and course sequencing may vary depending on each student’s background and enrollment status.

Cost

Students enrolled in the M.S. in Medical Sciences program will complete 32 credit hours. Cost estimates below are based on 2025-2026 tuition rates. Fees are assessed separately and may vary depending on course selection and student services.
