Application Deadlines

  • Fall Admission: February 1 (priority deadline)

Admission Requirements

  • Completedonline application
  • Completed bachelor’s degree
  • Related background or undergraduate major
  • 3.0 GPA or higher for admission without qualifications
  • Three letters of recommendation preferably from professors and/or supervisors familiar with your academic ability, work ethic and skills
  • Statement of purpose describing your personal career goals and how the master’s degree will support those goals. You can also include a brief description of experience or qualifications in support of the application and the specific track you want to pursue. Length would be less than one page typically.
  • Skills, equipment and access for online course participation includes the capacity for independent learning, proficiency in basic computer applications. Multimedia computer and high-speed Internet access are necessary.

  • Applicants graduating from schools outside the U.S. are required to submit transcripts that have been evaluated to U.S. standards
  • $50.00 application fee (domestic)

Recommended Undergraduate Majors

Applicants should have a college major or equivalent coursework as a foundation for graduate studies in the chosen specialization, known as a track.

  • Arson, Explosives, Firearms and Toolmarks Investigation: multiple educational backgrounds (must be employed in professional law enforcement, military, or forensic capacity)
  • Forensic Biology/DNA: Biology, Cell Biology, Genetics or Molecular Biology
  • Forensic Chemistry/Toxicology: Chemistry or Biochemistry
  • Forensic Investigative Sciences: Multiple educational backgrounds
  • Forensic Psychology: Sociology or Psychology although any major is eligible for admission. Please note: This program is not designed to create clinical or counseling psychologists. If interested in related licensure or a Ph.D., check on prerequisites with the respective licensing authority or doctoral program before applying.

International Applicants

  • Submit TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)orIELTS (International English Language Testing System)scores
    • TOEFL minimum scores 600 (paper with 5 on TWE) or 100 (Internet with 20 on written portion)
    • IELTS minimum score of 7.0
  • Applicants graduating from schools outside the United States are required to submit transcripts that have been evaluated to U.S. standards
  • Coursework in the school of Forensic Sciences is offered online, so typically international applicants would not relocate.
  • $75.00 application fee
