Program Director Welcome Letter

Welcome to the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences Neurology Residency
Program.
Our program was created with a clear mission: to train outstanding neurologists who
not only master the science of neurology but also serve with compassion in rural,
tribal, veteran, and underserved communities across Oklahoma. We aim to prepare physicians
who are clinically excellent, culturally competent, and committed to advancing the
field through education, scholarship, and leadership.
As Program Director, I am proud to lead a team of faculty and staff deeply invested
in your professional and personal growth. Residents in our program benefit from diverse
training sites—Ascension St. John Medical Center, OSU Medical Center, and Dell Children’s Medical
Center of Central Texas—offering broad exposure to neurological disorders across populations and acuity levels.
Our curriculum is rigorous and well-rounded: inpatient neurology, vascular neurology,
neurocritical care, epilepsy/EEG, movement disorders, neuromuscular medicine, pediatrics,
and specialty clinics in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology. Residents rotate
through continuity clinics each year, ensuring longitudinal relationships with patients
and families. Didactic conferences, simulation labs, and protected time for research
provide the academic depth to complement your clinical experience.
We also emphasize professionalism, wellness, and mentorship. Faculty work side by
side with residents in clinics, wards, and labs, modeling the highest standards of
care while helping each resident progress toward independent practice. Our supervision
and evaluation systems ensure progressive responsibility, safe patient care, and continuous
feedback.
Neurology is a rapidly advancing field. Here at OSU, you will not only learn the best
current practices but also help shape the future of neuroscience for our region. I
invite you to explore our program further and consider joining us on this journey.
Warmly,
Errol Gordon, MD
Program Director, OSU Neurology Residency
