Biography
I am the Director and Principal Investigator of the Center for Integrative Research on Childhood Adversity (CIRCA), an $11.3M, five-year NIH grant focused on the effects of poverty and adversity on children’s health and development. From 2008 to 2013, I was a George Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Community Medicine at OU-Tulsa, and led the Tulsa Children’s Project, a collaboration with Harvard’s Center for the Developing Child to develop interventions to reduce the effects of intergenerational poverty and adversity. Before coming to Oklahoma, I was on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where I led the Office of Health Promotion, the Center for Women's Health, and a number of NIH grants on health behaviors in high-risk populations.
