Meeting the Mission

OSU Center for Health Sciences was founded on the mission to meet the health care needs and improve the lives of people living in rural and underserved communities. Thanks to your generosity we can provide scholarships as well as funds for health and wellness initiatives and meet other immediate needs of our students. Your financial support is also helping expand the OSU Academic Medical District in downtown Tulsa and fund initiatives to recruit and support rural physicians. Please consider making a gift to help OSU-CHS continue to meet its mission.

Meet the President

Dr. Johnny Stephens serves as president of OSU Center for Health Sciences and senior vice president of health affairs for Oklahoma State University. Stephens is leading a $504 million capital development project in downtown Tulsa to expand the OSU Academic Medical District that includes a new veterans hospital, psychiatric care hospital and parking garage to complement OSU Medical Center, the teaching hospital of OSU-CHS. He was instrumental in the establishment of the nation’s first tribally affiliated medical school – the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation. Stephens also works closely with Oklahoma legislative leaders to secure funding to support osteopathic and graduate medical education as well as the OSU Medical Center.

Fourth-year student, OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine

"Thanks to donors I will be able to pay for my medical education without an enormous amount of debt, which I thought was impossible. They have given me the ability to focus on becoming an exceptional physician without worrying too much about finances. I am completely humbled by their generosity and eternally grateful for my selection as a scholarship recipient. Their support of students is an inspiration to me, and I hope to follow their example during my career. By contributing to my education, they take part in the future care I will provide to many as a physician, which is invaluable."
