Thesis Option

A research thesis is required for students pursuing a thesis option M.S. degree. Students pursuing this option will conduct original research, culminating in a written thesis that is presented as a seminar and publicly defended.

 

Non-Thesis Option (Creative Component)

The creative component option is fulfilled by enrolling in HCA 5052 Directed Readings. If the thesis option isn’t chosen, the creative component option must be chosen.

 

HCA Focus Options

There are two options HCA students can choose to focus: Administration or Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

 

Administration Option: geared toward students who have goals towards working in administrative roles in the Healthcare industry. The required courses for this option are the 4 required courses for the MHA program (listed above).

 

Leadership and Entrepreneurship option: geared toward high-level executive leadership. Student must complete the 4 required courses for the program in addition to HCA 5113. 

 

Transfer Credit Hours Eligibility

  • Up to nine credit hours of transfer coursework may be considered after admission into the program and with development of the Plan of Study with an advisor.
  • Transfer coursework is considered only if it is graduate level, assigned a letter grade of B or better, and will be less than 10 years old at the time of graduation with the M.S. in HCA.

Students who have earned a post baccalaureate degree in a health related discipline from another state institution may be granted a maximum of 30 credit hours towards the core and elective DHA courses with program director approval.

Transcripts will be evaluated on a case by case basis and reviewed by the Faculty Admissions Committee to determine if/how many credits from a previous matriculation may apply. 

All decisions made by the Faculty Admissions Committee are subject to be approved by the Graduate College.
