Hypertension Management in Primary Care
ECHO uses videoconferencing to connect an interdisciplinary team of experts with primary care providers. They collaborate in interactive case-based learning sessions to help providers develop advanced skills and best practices.
Who Should Participate?
Medical providers (DO, MD, NP, PA), nurses, clinical pharmacists, nutritionists, dietitians, psychologists, behavioral health providers, social workers, case managers, and other professionals interested in learning new skills.

This ECHO meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
To join this ECHO session registration is a one-time requirement. Once registered, you will receive an ECHO participant guide with more information.

Why Hypertension Management in Primary Care?
- Globally, it is estimated that more than 1 billion people have hypertension according to the World Health Organization.
- Nearly half of adults in the United States have hypertension according to the CDC. A significant portion of individuals with hypertension may not be aware of their condition until it leads to complications.
- Treatment rate for hypertension globally is 47% in women and 38% in men. Less than half of those treated achieved adequate control.
- Higher rates of hypertension have been noted in Black, Hispanic, Asian, and rural populations.
- Individual patient care can be fragmented between multiple health care providers leading to inadequate screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
