Research Outreach & Events

Two kids looking through a scope during one of the research events on campus.

Research Outreach

The office of Research hosts the OKStars & Native OKStars programs every summer for local high school juniors and seniors and regularly visits local K-12 schools and after-school programs along with the BSGSA to educate local students on the purpose and importance of biomedical research.

  • OKStars Program

The OKStars Program provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research. The program includes in-depth work with a research team, access to modern instrumentation and potential opportunities to participate in publications and presentations. Learn More

  • Native OKStars Program
The Native OKStars program accepts applications from local Native American high school students and allows these students to conduct research with a Native primary investigator typically focusing their research efforts on studying tribal health. The students in Native OKStars receive the same opportunities as those in OKStars but the projects for Native OKStars students differ from OKStars in that they often have the opportunity to work with local tribal doctors off-site and contribute to tribal affiliated research projects. • BSGSA Outreach
The Biomedical Science Graduate Student Association at OSU CHS participates in STEM outreach and educational events. The BSGSA visits local schools and after school programs to provide grant-funded labs that teach elementary, middle, and high school students about biomedical science and research. The BSGSA also visits local high school clubs and classrooms to explain the importance of their research and biomedical research for future students. Learn More

Research Events

The Office of Research hosts events throughout the year offering students and faculty members the opportunity to present their research and attend educational sessions.

  • Research Week

The Research Week event is to showcase all OSU-CHS research, encourage
researchers to interact with each other and senior professionals, and to give student
researchers the experience of attending a scientific conference. Learn More
